The Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge involves demanding, vigorous exercise. You will be expected to walk continuously for between 8-14 hours in mountainous areas, often over difficult terrain and in variable weather conditions. The distance of the walk is approximately 24.5 miles. Participants are responsible for making sure they are prepared for the challenge by training and bringing the required kit and equipment.
The Yorkshire 1 Peak Challenge will also be a demanding walk that will be approximately 7.5 miles long (approximately 3 – 4 hours long), again often over difficult terrain and in variable weather. Similarly to the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge participants are responsible for making sure they are fully prepared for the trek in fitness, kit and equipment.
Before registering for this event, you should be fit to participate and seek medical advice. It is your responsibility to ensure that you are fit and able enough to take in the challenges.
Your safety is of paramount importance, so please ensure that you follow all safety instructions and training procedures when participating in events. We have taken all reasonable steps to eliminate the chance of injury but there is a certain minimal risk in every activity and you should withdraw from the event if you have any doubts. NYF UK recognises that climbing, hill walking and mountaineering are activities with a danger of personal injury or death. Participants in these activities should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions and involvement.
NYF UK, its employees, agents and volunteers accept no liability whatsoever to participants or spectators in respect of any loss, damage or personal injury which may be sustained in the course of this event other than personal injury (including death) caused by our negligence. Liability cannot be accepted for any damage, injury or loss arising from the negligence of participants (whether through failure to observe the rules of the event or otherwise).
Participation in this event is by pre-registration only. For health and safety reasons walk-ups on the day will not be permitted to take part. All walkers must be registered and have paid their registration fee through the Nepal Youth Foundation UK website by midnight on Wednesday 16th May 2018.
We also do not accept substitutions on the day; only the person who registered for the event is able to use that place.
You must ensure that all personal information given by you to NYF UK in writing or otherwise is true and accurate.
You must be at least 14 years old to take part in the Yorkshire 3 Peaks challenge and it is up to the child’s legal guardian’s discretion for the Yorkshire 1 Peak Challenge (but please be mindful of the distance and the climb).
Anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Parents must decide if the event is appropriate for their child and seek additional information if necessary. We reserve the right to prohibit individuals from taking part, and will do so if participants under 16 do not have an adult to walk with.
It is strict policy for these events that all under 16’s must be accompanied at all times by the parent/guardian responsible for them, therefore if the parent/guardian retires from the event the young person/s would have to retire from the event too.
Both the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge and 1 Peak Challenge are physically demanding events; climbing mountains is no easy task and requires a certain level of fitness and stamina best acquired through training. The training you complete before the event will make a big difference.
We will provide an essential items kit list on our website. The essential items on the kit list are required for your safety. We will not let you take part if you are missing essential equipment.
Essential kit includes: walking boots, waterproof jacket and trousers, rucksack, warm weather kit (sunscreen, sun hat, sun glasses), cold weather kit (woolly hat, gloves, warm clothes), food and drink, mobile phone.
All walkers must be on time for event start, and late arrivals will not be permitted to take part. Please note that we will have a cut-off time after which participants will need to be escorted off the mountain/route. All information about timings will be hosted on the website.
Registration fees cover the overheads of the event and help to guarantee participation on the day and will only be refundable if the event is cancelled due to adverse weather or other any other events outside our control.
We will monitor the weather along the route in advance of the challenge with help from experienced mountaineers. Any decision to cancel the event, either beforehand or during the event, would be based on their expert advice. Should we be advised to cancel the event, all participants will be contacted. If we cancel the event participant registration fees will be eligible for a refund.
Should the event not meet the minimum number required to make the event viable NYF UK reserves the right to cancel with a full refund of monies paid thus far. The minimum amount of walkers for the walk to proceed is 20 walkers and the maximum is 150 walkers across both events.

Costs and Payments
Registration is £20 per participant and is non-refundable for Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge, £10 for Yorkshire 1 Peak Challenge (£5 for children). All participants are requested to raise £150 in sponsorship for 3 Peaks Challenge and £100 for 1 Peak Challenge in aid of Nepal Youth Foundation UK.
Should weather conditions or ill health involve participants incurring extra costs such as accommodation, transportation and meals, such costs will be borne by the participant.
Photography and video
Photographs and videos may be taken of you during the event which may be used to publicise future NYF UK events and the work of the charity generally including on our website. We will assume you are happy for us to use your images unless you tell us otherwise.
For under 16s, please inform us on the registration form whether you are happy for photos to be used.
