A Fantastic Month for Challenge Events!
Despite the impact on fundraising caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, September witnessed two amazing challenge events – we are in awe of the amazing participants and hugely grateful for their efforts! The Speed Project (TSP) 2020 (a 340 mile team relay endurance event, due to take place in the United States in March this year) was cancelled with four days notice due to lockdown. Undeterred, the organisers came up with the concept of TSP DIY, where teams could still compete from wherever they were in the world (providing they adhered to Covid-19 and social distancing local guidelines.
The weekend of September 5th and 6th, saw our amazing team run, relay-style, for 31 hours and 15 minutes, logging almost 400 kms of covered distance between them! An amazing effort, with some amazing fundraising. A massive thank you to the team, who are already looking forward to TSP 2021 in April next year – hopefully in the US, pandemic permitting.
On the Saturday of the same weekend, a hardy team of walkers embarked on the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge – 24 miles, with 1585m of ascent, taking in the stunning North Yorkshire scenery whilst climbing Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough. Despite some less than ideal weather conditions, the team smashed it, along with their fundraising targets. Again, thank you and congratulations.
